Historical Obituary of Maude Pye Sharpe June 27, 1944 – July 5, 2022
Maude was the fifth child born to the union of Hattie and Abraham Pye. She grew up in Pratt City and graduated from Western Olin (J.O.) High School. Upon graduation, she moved to New York City and then to Detroit, Michigan where she settled and married. To this union, she added one sone Cedric Pye. She worked as a nurse’s assistant. She transferred to Atlanta. GA when her mother’s health begin to fail. She wanted to be closer to help care for her. Upon retiring she returned home to Birmingham and remained.
As her health declined, her son Cedric and his wife Deidra briefly carried her to their home in Huntsville, AL and cared for her until she passed. Although she lived in other states, she returned home frequently and attended Triumph Church Temple #6 as often as possible . She served her church as an usher. Her favorite part of church was the Advanced School of Wisdom.
She was a devoted wife to Ronald Sharpe until his death.
Her memory will forever be cherished by her son, Cedric (Deidra) Prye, granddaughter D’Ann (Kenneth) Orange and three great-grandchildren of Huntsville, AL; three sisters Enna Pye Willis and Delores (Nathaniel) Adams of Birmingham, AL and Naomi Moore of Detroit, MI and one brother Samuel (Ruth) Pye of Birmingham. AL alone with other nieces, great-nieces, nephews, and great-nephews. Many cousins, friends, neighbors, and a wonderful church family.
