Obituary of Lucinda Adams. February 10, 1934 – February 1, 2021
Lucinda (Newsome) Adams was born in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Mittie B. (Fuller) and Enoch Newsome on February 10, 1934. She was the youngest of seven siblings. All have preceded Lucinda in death.
Lucinda married Rossevelt Adams Sr., retired U.S Air Force SMSgt. Through their union, she developed brotherly and sisterly relations with his family. The surviving members are Nathaniel Adams Sr., Minnie Mae Clayton, Mabel Roebuck and Mildred Bristow (Isacc Sr.)
During their 56 years of marriage, four sons and a daughter were born; Rosevelt Jr. (Denise), Larry R. (Sharon), Micheal W. (LaVera), Mary Ann Moore (Jimmy Sr.) David E (Zelma).
Lucinda established homes, church families and advocated for human rights in four different stated prior to settling in Milwaukee in the late sixties.
Lucinda retired from Sears after many years of service. She was a dedicated volunteer prayer partner, served the Parish Council and the Food Pantry at St. Agnes Church, now All Saints. This opportunity to serve God and live out her knowledge and belief in the biblical principles was the cornerstone of her faith. She often joined her family on the lake or river to win the challenge of catching the most fish. Her list of accomplishments are many and varied. She enjoyed butter pecan ice cream, gardening, long rides, Cousin’s Subs and family reunions.
Agape love is the best description for her unconditional care with all encountered. She leaves a legacy of goodwill and faith for her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
Though meek in spirit, Lucinda Adams was bold and valiant regarding the gospel of Jesus Christ. She manifested a profound reverence for divine things. She arose early in the morning to pray and meditate on God’s Word. Through this communion, she was comforted, renewed, and gladly proclaimed the great love of God. Lucinda Adams understood the first and great commandment, love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, soul, and mind, and to love thy neighbor as thyself (Matthew 22:36-40). Through many trials and with full confidence, she was of good courage, knew that God was with her, and would never forsake her.
