Mrs. Willie Mae Adams was born August 6, 1928 in Birmingham, Alabama (Oxmoor area). At a very young age, she committed her life to Christ and became a member of Saint Matthew African Methodist Episcopal Church. She served faithfully as Junior/Intermediate Sunday school teacher for nine years, a member of the Pastor’s Aide Board, and as a stewardess until her death,

She was a graduate from Rosedale High School in Homewood, Alabama – class of 1945. Willie Mae later attended the historical HBCU, Miles college. This event is noted as one of her proudest accomplishments.

Willie Mae was united in holy matrimony to Nathaniel Adams, Sr. on March 20, 1949. From that loving union, five children were born. Their commitment to their vows stayed true for sixty-one years, until death did they part.

Willie Mae led a full life in which she spread a message of love, freely gave love, and many other beautiful gifts from her heart. She was committed to the will of the Lord and, “Ordered her steps in His word”. Her full and beautiful life came to a peaceful end on Thursday, December 16, 2010.

She was preceded in death by the entire original Dukes family of Oxmoor, Alabama. She leaves to cherish her memories: a devoted husband, Nathaniel Adams, Sr.; A loving brother, James Frazier; three sons, Nathaniel Adams, Jr. (Delois), Ronald Adams (Bethanne), Donald Adams (Bobbie); two daughters, Saundra Gayle Smedley (Eugene), and Linda Bogus (Henry); eleven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends who all loved her and will miss her dearly.
